A beautiful summer wedding at Twin Owls Steakhouse
Many of our couples venture into Rocky Mountain National Park to take photos! There are so many incredibly gorgeous places and it’s right down the road from us!
After a beautiful afternoon in the Park, they had a wonderful Reception in the Loft Room, with some great personal touches.
Some words from Haley…
|How did you meet Michael?
Michael and I met in college at Iowa State University. I lived on the second floor and he was moving into the first floor when I first saw him. I was eating gummy worms on my balcony, and he was carrying a snowboard. Love at first sight!
How did you get engaged?
Michael proposed to me in July 2016, 2 days after my birthday. We were on a trip together in RMNP, hiking Black Lake that day. We had gotten to the top of the hike and I started making Easy Mac on the JetBoil. He sat down next to me on a rock overlooking Ribbon Falls and held out the ring. My favorite part is that he carried the ring on a small pink carabiner in his pack the days leading up to his proposal.
Did you enjoy wedding planning? What brought you to Estes Park?
I enjoyed most of the moments while planning. I think it can be as stressful or as simple as you want it to be. I enjoyed designing a wedding that expressed the two of us as a couple. We are from Des Moines, but we always knew we wanted a small intimate ceremony outdoors. We are both avid rock climbers, skiers, and hikers, so it was just natural for us to have our celebration in a place we frequent to do the things we enjoy. We were glad 25 of our closest family members made it a priority to travel there for us!
What made you select the Twin Owls Steakhouse?
I want to rave about the Twin Owls Steakhouse, and the Loft Room specifically! It was perfectly intimate and amazingly beautiful at night! The servers were all very helpful, and the food was talked about for months following (especially the elk bites!) it was the perfect place for a small dinner reception.
What is your favorite memory of your wedding day?
I have so many great memories from that day! I loved getting ready with my sister and mother the morning of, while Michael and a few guys went hiking nearby. I also enjoyed taking photos in RMNP after the ceremony, the intimate space of the Loft at Twin Owls, and our family hike the next morning. But, I would say my favorite moment was walking down the aisle. I’m not a person who thrives on attention, but that moment cant be beat!
